2012-08-09 - We invite you to check with other local funeral homes to see what they may be charging for similar services, such as a traditional funeral service including evening before visitation and next day funeral. What is the least price casket and steel vault they have? Funeral homes are no different then any retail business in that they carry a wide assortment of merchandise with different prices. If someone tells you they spent (X number of dollars) and it sounds high, what did they choose to make it so? Did the funeral home advance any monies on their behalf to pay for cemetery costs, out of town funeral home expense, family flowers, or did they have to buy a vault because of the cemetery requirement. It surely does not take long to raise a contract price. Find out what is the least price you can pay as a starting point. The final costs are basically up to the purchaser/buyer (family of the deceased). Remember, funeral homes are required by law to disclose their prices.
